Annual Firefighter of the Year Award for Citrus County to Take Place on Tuesday, February 6

LECANTO, FL, FEBRUARY 6, 2018—The Annual Firefighter of the Year Award for Citrus County presented by Restoration Specialists will be held on Tuesday, February 6 at 12:00 p.m. at 1300 South Lecanto Hwy, Lecanto, FL 34461. This award honors the bravery, hard work, and diligence of the men and women risk their lives to save others in communities all across central Florida.
Several nominations were sent in from all across Citrus County, and it is safe to say there were some truly historic feats in our community last year. These heroic nominees were responsible for saving lives, preserving homes, and restoring the community faced with natural disasters during a relentless hurricane season. While the decision was difficult, Restoration Specialists coordinated with the local fire department chiefs to choose the worthiest candidate.

The 2017 awards will go to Lieutenant Dustin Greene and Driver Engineer Colin Beagan. Lieutenant Greene toured in Iraq and Afghanistan. Not only does Lieutenant Greene serve the community as a Firefighter, he is also an Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic, and Hazmat worker. “[He is a] very caring person and always willing to help,” says Sue Hamilton, a friend of Lieutenant Greene’s. For one rescue mission, Lieutenant Greene teamed up with Driver Engineer Colin Beagan, a fellow dedicated firefighter. The two men risked their lives and successfully saved a local woman from a burning home.

The awards will be presented by the department chief, and several city dignitaries will be in attendance. Please join all of us in honoring Lieutenant Dustin Greene and Driver Engineer Colin Beagan this Tuesday at 12:00 p.m.
