Light Up Inverness

Inverness, Fl–The arrival of a recent cold front to the Suncoast Region has given local residents a taste of cold weather and needed rain. But, the arrival of rain has raised some concerns about the Light Up Inverness event scheduled for today, starting at 5 PM. During a phone interview with Liz Fernley, Marketing Manager for the City of Inverness Event & Visitor Bureau, light rain this afternoon and early-evening may cause some last-minute changes to the event’s schedule but that the event was still a go.

Fernley shared with the Standard that City officials would be monitoring hourly weather reports and provide updates on the City’s Facebook page. Click here for Light Up Inverness updates throughout the day.

Fernley confirmed that two elements of the event, the Valerie Theater playing of “Miracle on 34th Street” and the Citrus High School Choir singing event on the second floor of the Citrus County Historical Society at the Old Courthouse Museum, were both free indoor activities.  Those interested in the Valerie Theater screening are advised to call (352) 341-7850 as tickets are required for entry and more attendees may choose to attend the viewing due to current weather concerns.

Fernley insisted that the City will be monitoring weather updates throughout the afternoon and post updates to the City of Inverness Facebook page.

Below is a press release received from the City of Inverness about Light Up Inverness. Some elements listed earlier in the week may need to be modified or removed due to weather.
