A 9-year-old Homosassa girl suffered serious injuries in a Levy County crash that took the life of her Mother, 32-year-old Jessica Lea Raquet, and her Grandmother, 55-year-old Joy Lea Raquet, on Friday, April 14, 2017. Jessica Raquet was driving her 2008 Toyota Corolla north on CR 345 at approximately 11:05 am when the driver of a 2000 Honda Civic, a 17-year-old from Bronson, failed to stop at the stop sign on eastbound CR 320. The Civic struck the Corolla on the driver’s side with the front end of his car. After impact, the Civic came to a rest against a tree facing northbound and Raquets’ Corolla came to a rest in a pasture facing westward.

Jessica and Joy were pronounced dead at the scene, while 9-year-old Mylea Raquet was transported to Shands Hospital at UF in serious condition. The 17-year-old driver of the Civic was transported to Shands Gainesville with serious injuries, as well. It is unknown at this time if alcohol was a factor, and according to the Florida Highway Patrol, charges are pending.

A You Caring page has been set up by Chad Patterson to assist the Raquet family with funeral expenses and medical expenses for 9-year-old Mylea. Donations may be made by clicking the following link: https://www.youcaring.com/philraquetmylearaquet-801967. As of April 19, approximately $2,000 of the $10,000 goal has been raised.
